In 2005, small stone towers and wooden figures were discovered along today's sculpture path. These little tricks were a mystery at first, because nobody knew who they came from. They were created by the then initially known artist Benjamin Redeleit, who with his simple yet memorable art in the landscape attracted the attention of many hikers and the interest of the Bienenbüttel community. Then the idea was born to install an 8.5 km long sculpture path in the natural area of Ilmenau.
A total of 11 artists came together and realized the sculpture path in the natural area of Ilmenau. Each artist created an art object along the way. The materials of the art objects are very different - from wood to stone and metal to plastic - all materials have been processed into wonderful sculptures by the artists.
