Since the Catholic community built a new church, they no longer needed the chapel of the former St. Catherine monastery. This chapel was purchased by the Jewish community and rebuilt for its purposes. Until the forced dissolution of the community in 1938, it served as a synagogue. The school attached to the synagogue was closed after the First World War.
The old second St. Catherine's Church served as a Catholic parish church from 1683 to 1848; thereafter the building was the Unna Synagogue until the pogrom night on November 9, 1938; today there is a print shop.
