Last little walk of this vacation. It was recommended to us, but we didn't find it that great.

After seeing in the morning that the Goldsteig Trail leads past the Schwellhäusl, my wife decided to take us on a lovely walk through the primeval forests of the Bavarian Forest that afternoon. It's a very beautiful trail, but it's a bit sad to see that the bark beetle and the drought are also killing

Thanks @Doc Sami for the tip about the long-distance beer trail. bierfernwanderweg-karte-679x466cm_2023-07_final.pdf share.google/IYlwUl9gYoYwFsWVD
The National Park stage, which ends right on our doorstep, seemed like a good idea. From the train station in Bayerisch Eisenstein, the trail initially climbs

A short evening stroll through the national park. We were supposed to see lynx and wolves, but instead we saw wild horses, Heck cattle, and plenty of glowworms, also known colloquially as fireflies.

A beautiful and mostly shady walk around the dam. Why did the Bavarians plant all the spruce trees with their roots on the ground? 🤔😉

The river trail from Bayerisch Eisenstein to Zwiesel has a good chance of being named Hiking Trail of the Year 2025. Anyone who enjoys singletrack and tree-root paths will love this trail. It's just a shame that, for some inexplicable reason, they cut down a kilometer of trees and built an ugly gravel

I don't know whether I should be more upset with Komoot, which listed this nonsense as its top recommendation for climbing the Grosser Arber, or with the Regen district, which is completely destroying the forest so that bikers and skiers can indulge in their environmentally destructive hobby.

The small path in the Helenental Valley, one of Austria's most famous and beautiful walking trails, where Beethoven once strolled in search of new inspiration. At 35 degrees Celsius, we felt more sweaty than inspired, but under the tall trees and on the banks of the Schwechat River, it was bearable.

Finally got out into nature for a bit. It felt really good. After the rain, the first mushrooms are coming out, and the wasp in photo 11 was something quite unusual. It was a club-horned sawfly (never heard of it before). I can't say whether it was an alder or poplar wasp. Both are on the Red List, and
