As one of the most representative buildings of the Renaissance shows the castle Bevern in the Weser area. It was built in the years 1603 - 1612 according to the main specifications of the client, Statius von Münchhausen, as a regular four-wing system around a square courtyard with moat, two bridges and a castle garden.

After an extremely eventful history, the rural district of Holzminden took over the castle from the Bevern municipality in 1986 and turned it into a regional cultural center.
