Funny, perhaps a little over-decorated, café in the middle of the city park. Here you can escape the hustle and bustle at least a little, even if the traffic noise can still be heard on the terrace. The clientele is pleasantly mixed.

The milk house was built in 1904, the Carl Miehe dairy opened the bar in the city forest - one of a good dozen in the city. For a long time, the Miehe family and descendants ran it themselves, until Annemarie Baumeister, aunt of the current tenant Wolfgang Stein, took over the café in 1967.

Wolfgang Stein has been sitting at the milk bar in the forest for three decades. And the buttermilk is still the biggest hit here. For a long time, the premises were used purely for milk distribution, as the name suggests, but today the milk house serves not only milk but also coffee specialties, breakfast, cakes and ice cream. The kitchen serves classics such as baked potatoes, currywurst or Strammer Max. But there are also herring weeks or culinary theme days. And of course breakfast and lots of cakes and sweet things. The toilets are portable toilets behind the shower curtain, and if you get cold in the forest café, you'll have to dress warmer. It is open from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and not only in the summer months.

At the moment (29.12.21) the milk house is very lush and nicely decorated with Christmas decorations.
