The Kuttenbach nature reserve is located in the Erzgebirgskreis. It is part of the FFH area of Kuttenbach, Moosheide and Vordere Aue and extends northeast of Oberpfannenstiel, a district of the city of Lauter-Bernsbach, along the Kuttenbach, a tributary of the south-flowing Schwarzwasser. It is approximately 65.0 hectares in size and was placed under protection on November 18, 1997.
