Marius van Dokkum, born in 1957 in Andijk, studied at the Christian Academy for Visual Arts in Kampen, majoring in illustration. After the academy he settled in Apeldoorn, where he is currently working as a painter, illustrator, draftsman and designer. His paintings consist of still lifes, portraits and free subjects. The free subjects often have something humorous about them.

A museum where people laugh out loud, where complete strangers talk to each other for a painting and where children enjoy art just as much as grown-ups. That is unique. That is the Marius van Dokkum Museum. The only registered museum in the Netherlands of a living artist.
