Do you want to view a medieval wall house from the inside? That is possible at Museum Flehite. The museum in the center of Amersfoort is located in three wall houses, which were built around 1540. All kinds of traces can be found in the buildings of the residents and users who have lived or worked there over the past centuries. Ask at the desk for "Traces in the house" for an explanation of the building history and discover old hearth places and murals from days long gone.

As a city museum, Museum Flehite tells about the history of the city through objects and paintings. The story of city carpenter Leendert Nicasiusz, for example, who managed to quell the fire in the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe tower in 1651. An eye-catcher is a city chest from the 15th century. The chest was made from one piece of wood and fitted with nine locks. Among other things, it kept the proceeds of fines and the silver seal stamp of the city. To prevent anyone from grabbing the chest, the keys to the chest were kept by various notables.

Museum Flehite naturally tells the story of the Miracle of Amersfoort, about the statue of the Virgin Mary that performed miracles for centuries and turned the city into a place of pilgrimage and about Johan van Oldenbarnevelt, the statesman who played an important role in the history of the creation of today's Netherlands.
