The New Ironworks is a blast furnace plant from 1835 in which local iron ores were smelted on a charcoal basis to produce pig iron until 1924. With its construction and technical equipment, the blast furnace represents a link between the medieval blast furnace and the modern coke blast furnace. It is one of the last examples of this technology in Central Europe. The technology is presented in the exhibition in the ironworks building at the original blast furnace itself. Other outbuildings complement topics such as mining analysis, charcoal production, mineralogy and the reconstructed hydroelectric plant.
