    Hiking

The beautifully situated Bastrup Tower is Denmark's oldest castle ruin. Some coins date it to before 1150, the lavish use of ashlar places it in the first half of the 12th century, and a letter from King Niels with the name Ebbe of Bastetorp to before 1130. The tower has formidable dimensions with a boulder wall 6 meters thick and lined on both sides with ashlar - probably to make an impression and because people were still only used to building churches in stone - not fortifications.
