The Golden Goose is a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.
The youngest of three sons is despised and is called Simpleton.
When the eldest goes to chop wood, his mother gives him wine and pancakes.
On the way, a little gray man wants to eat with him, but he refuses.
While working, he hits his arm with the axe.
The second son does the same and hits himself in the leg.
Finally, the youngest is allowed to eat, too. He only gets ash cakes and sour beer,
but he is happy to share with the little man. In return, he shows him an old tree,
which he chops down and finds a golden goose.
At the innkeeper's, the three daughters want to grab a feather; the first's hand hangs on it, the second on it, and the third on her. So Simpleton simply takes it.
On the way, the priest tries to stop the girls from following him, but gets stuck on the last one, then the sexton, and then two peasants. At the sight of this chain, the king's daughter, who is usually so serious, laughs that the king promised it to anyone who could make her laugh.

But because the simpleton is poor, he has to bring a man who can drink a cellar of wine, then one who can eat a mountain of bread, and finally a ship that sails on water
    and land.
The simpleton searches for the little man, finds a thirsty man and a hungry man,
who complete the task, also receives the ship, marries, and inherits the kingdom.

The bronze sculpture "Guldgåsen" is an adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale "The Golden Goose." The fairy tale's hero, called Dummling, also passed through the beautiful town of Winsen with his golden goose.
      There's proof of this.
This bronze sculpture of Dummling and his goose stands on the castle square.
This work was created by Arne Ranslet, a well-known Danish artist, in 1992.
Life-size figures depict three girls, a priest, a sexton, and two farmers,
running behind the boy with the golden goose.
Klaudia Diekmann envisions what this group run might have been like.

The Marktplartz is surrounded by very beautiful buildings such as the castle, town hall and stables as well as the castle pond.
