Hetzles was first mentioned in a deed of gift by King Otto I in 1109 and can therefore look back on 900 years of history. The coat of arms of the parish is adorned with a bishop's staff, which commemorates the former Bishop of Bamberg, Archbishop Michael von Deinlein, three cherries, which refer to the large sweet cherry growing area on the slopes of the Hetzleser mountain, and an ammonite, which refers to the geologically very interesting soil conditions to draw attention to the place.

In Hetzles, an unusually large number of half-timbered houses have been preserved and for the most part carefully renovated.
