Nice view of the Stone Woman. Unfortunately, the view from the sign is somewhat obscured by the trees. If you walk a few meters to the left, you can see it much better

The "Stone Woman" is a beautiful eye-catcher (even from afar).

How did the "Stone Woman" come about?

The weathering affects the hard dolomite preferentially on vertical fissures. Over time, the cracks widen to such an extent that individual rock towers such as the "Stone Woman" form. The lower part of this prominent rock tower has not yet been completely separated from the wall, while the Wiesenthauer Nadel (a bit further south, also visible from here) and the twin rocks on the eastern edge of the Walberla are already free on the slope.

The future development of the rock towers is already becoming apparent: Without the supporting connection to the neighboring rock, the crevasses open up more and more and the rocks gradually incline towards the valley until they finally collapse.
