If you want to take a look at the castle, it's best to go there in April. It is the time of the magnolias. A beautiful old tree population comes to new life every spring.
Funny is that this castle several times in the thriller "Einstein" was seen.
 If you choose the path to the Agger, you are not allowed to go over the castle with your dog right, but you have to walk from the parking lot at the cafe, behind the castle. There is also the orientation board with kilometers of the various rounds.

The circuit around the lake is currently closed. Even for hikers really no getting through is possible because the narrow transition to the generator house was made with barbed wire. Why the way to is I do not know. Questions with the Aggerverband were not answered.

Very beautiful forest, great castle, here the cult series "forbidden love" was filmed in the nineties.

For more than five hundred years, the property was owned by the von Nesselrode family before she bequeathed the last countess of this family to the Rhenish Knighthood as a lady's pen. This exists there until today.

The mansion, formerly part of the castle, is now used by the Maltese relief service as the commander.

May 24th, 2020 - Corona-related, the path on the right past the castle is closed. Here you have to choose the path around the back of the castle, which, however, allows few beautiful views of the castle grounds ...

The moated castle is not open to the public, but the accessible area is wonderfully prepared. Next door is a Malteser Comende and a Tagubgshaus. Both housed in the former manor of the castle. Everything top rated.

A great castle with a beautiful castle garden

Unfortunately, the private road was closed. That's why you could only see the castle from the outside.

Forget it - everywhere "private", "no entry" etc. As you can read here it used to be different obviously, but now the whole castle grounds are not open to the public (except for weddings and other private events). You can hardly see anything from outside.Too bad - the castle seems really worth seeing. Hopefully they don't get any public money to keep the castle; the public has none of it.
