The year of construction of the chapel is unknown. A document from the year 1638 mentions a foundation of Count Adolf von Nesselrode from the year 1622 in favor of the chapel. After the construction of the nearby dam, which was completed in 1932, fell into disrepair and was partially destroyed by vandals. Citizens of the district and collegiate renewed the chapel at the beginning of the 21st century again.
