Schneealpenhaus

In 1925 the Schneealpenhaus was opened at an altitude of 1,788 meters. It is open from May to mid-October. In the cold months, a winter room offers hikers protection. The location of the hut on the high plateau is fantastic. The house has its own little summit cross and is a great place for a break.

The Schneealpenhaus is an Alpine refuge with a well-known winter room (including fridge with drinks). But even in summer, this shelter is the main tourist infrastructure of the Schneealpe, which is the largest of the three plateau blocks of Schneeberg, Rax and Schneealpe, but was the least developed touristically. This is what makes the attraction of Schneealpe. And by the way, you can experience the finest sunrises of the Viennese local mountains in the Schneealpenhaus!
