About Werner Thyssen

A really nice tour, completely effortless. The landscape around the various lakes is really wonderful. Here we will certainly come again for hiking.

Wanted to get out, but not go that far. Since I have never hiked in the Königsforst before, my choice fell on this one. I just put the tour together like that. Friends later told me that there are certainly nicer rounds. Well, now I know that too. 😁
So the tour wasn't bad, but pretty much split in two. The first half was heavily influenced by street noise, and it offered little variety. The second part, however, was ok.

A nice day, a nice tour 😁. Nice flat and easy to drive. The collection of large historical buildings is exciting. Nevertheless, you have to be willing to compromise. The area is strongly characterized by a lot of industry. A few km of bike paths on busy roads are included.

I've always wanted to go to the Wiehl reservoir. I then used the beautiful spring weather in winter 😁 to put the plan into action. I was particularly interested in the stretches from the Bergisches Panoramaweg.
The tour is basically nice. Unfortunately, the forest is in a deplorable condition almost along the entire route. Bark beetles and drought have severely affected the forest, so that spruce and beech stands are severely decimated. For hikers, at least the first 6km are made more difficult by the fact that the paths are virtually impassable due to the heavy forest machines. Of course, the ground was soft as butter due to the frost and snow of the past week and today's 15 degrees. Good thing I had sturdy hiking boots on.
But the panoramas on the way were very nice and the view of the Wiehl reservoir is a dream.
So, the tour is recommended at a later point in time, when the ground is a little drier and maybe the forest work is over.

With the beautiful weather today, the bike just had to get out. The tour put together quickly was amazingly beautiful. Only at Adscheid, here there is a great view of Blankenberg Castle, there is probably no longer a path. Here I just walked across the field. But otherwise really nice, so I will definitely cycle this again.

I spontaneously decided to do the round because of a hiking tip in my daily newspaper. Actually a nice lap if it weren't for the road noise for a good 2/3 of the tour. If you go in a group, it may be less noticeable. If you go alone, it's annoying.
A closer look at the directions would certainly have helped, as the A3 is in the immediate vicinity.
Then I noticed that Komoot had several problems with the route. Various paths were obviously not known. I haven't had that before.
