Created as a twin monastery in the early 11th century, today Barbadelo is a civilian place with a normal parish. Especially worth seeing is the Romanesque church of Igrexa de Santiago de Barbadelo. Near the river Barbadelo, in beautiful surroundings, a duplex monastery was established between the 10th and 11th centuries, which would later come to depend on Samos, in whose orbit it remained until 1835.
