Created as a twin monastery in the early 11th century, today Barbadelo is a civilian place with a normal parish. Especially worth seeing is the Romanesque church of Igrexa de Santiago de Barbadelo. Built in the 12th century in granite, the portals are decorated with beautiful, human, animal and plant motifs.

Near the river Barbadelo, in beautiful surroundings, a duplex monastery was established between the 10th and 11th centuries, which would later come to depend on Samos, in whose orbit it remained until 1835. In the second half of the 12th century, the church was built on the former factory of the priory. Vestiges of the monastic construction are still conserved; Thus, a building still known as "the monastery" can be seen next to the church, which became private property with the Disentailment.
