The 2nd tower of the city wall from Roman times. The fact that it has been preserved in this way is probably due to the fact that it was used as a watch and message tower until the Middle Ages.
You can climb up a wooden internal staircase and enjoy the view.

The city wall of Aventicum is the most important Roman tree structure in Helvetia. The length at that time was 5.7km and was about 7m high and 2.4m thick. 73 inner towers and 5 gates have been found. Interesting to know that the wall was built out of Jura stones (well, that's obvious, but still) and these were brought in by barges. Construction began between 70 and 80 AD.

Aventicum was the main town of the Roman Civitas Helvetiorum in the Swiss plateau and the political, religious and economic center of the Helvetians. The Roman city was located on what is now Avenches. In its heyday in the 1st to 3rd centuries AD, it was the largest city on Swiss soil and at times had more than 20,000 inhabitants.

Tornallaz - the outer city wall from the Roman period is still partially present and gives you an impression of how the Romans lived at that time.
