The manor with its castle in Dürrröhrsdorf-Dittersbach looks back on a long and eventful history. Dittersbach was already a manor house around 1350, which was mentioned in 1446 as an outwork and was owned by Volczsch von Turgow and passed to Heinrich von Starschedel in 1460. The castle was built in the 16th century on the remains of an old moated castle from the 12th century. Especially at the beginning of the 19th century it developed into a meeting place for the German romantic scene.
There were numerous further changes of ownership up to 1829, but Dittersbach Castle only remained in the ownership of the respective buyer for a few years. In 1949, the LPG took over the manor and used it until 1990. The castle served as a hostel for apprentices until 1989. After it was returned to the city of Dresden in 1993, the palace stood empty. It was sold with the park in 2004 and has since been gradually renovated.
A nymph, Apollino and Diana, goddess of the hunt, beautify the park again. The owner recreated the old lines of sight in the form of the two avenues of lime trees through extensive new planting and new paths. The park wall, which was largely used as a “quarry” after the war, was also rebuilt. The 1400 square meter castle pond, with its surrounding sandstone border, which had been completely filled in in the 1970s, was dug out again and rebuilt.
Thanks to all the work in the area surrounding the palace and park, the original appearance of the entire complex has been restored for a long time. The side wings of the castle shine again in their old splendor. Now the main building and the numerous outbuildings are to be extensively renovated and put into private use. There will then be concerts and other events in the restored premises of the palace, as is regularly the case in the park today.
