The main church of the Evangelical-Lutheran parish was built after the great city fire of 1638 in place of the Marienkirche "Our Lady", which was laid in ashes, and was consecrated at Christmas 1655 under the name "St. Salvator".The church is a plain central building with buttresses at the corners and a tented roof and attached gabled roofs to the east and west.

The predecessor church was first mentioned in a document in 1449, it is probably much older, since it was described in a document from 1475 as dilapidated for its age. It was originally dedicated to Our Lady. It was completely burned down by the Swedes during the great city fire of 1638 and replaced in 1655 by a new church called Zum Salvator. The high crucifix above the altar table was carved in 1596, it comes from the church in Culmitzsch, which had to give way to opencast mining. wikipedia.org
