The forest chapel of the Barons von Ow-Wachendorf was donated in 1893 by Hans Otto von Ow. It rises above the foundations of the High Middle Ages castle east of Wachendorf above the Starzeltal valley.

Hiking

A narrow path, uphill, past the old mill in the Starzeltal, you unexpectedly come across the forest chapel, which rests right on the edge of the forest. A more convenient access is of course from Wachendorf. You forgo the prettier path, which winds its way up over roots and past old walls. The chapel itself has only recently been renovated and tells of its history with inscriptions. Very interesting, not just beautiful.
