This model of the Groß Bestener post mill is located on the Mühlenberg. A post mill, the Rudolfsmühle, northwest of Groß Besten, dates back to the 14th century. A document from 1648 reads: "Gross Besten has always had a windmill... Even in 1375 a 'Rudolffmol' was mentioned." Old maps show that the location of the mill was not far from the oak tree on the Mühlenberg. The post mill on the Mühlenberg burned down in 1901 and was not rebuilt.
