  • The Finnish National Library (Finn.: Kansalliskirjasto), until 2006 Helsinki University Library (Finn.: Helsingin yliopiston kirjasto), is the oldest and most important academic library in Finland. It is the university library of the University of Helsinki, which also serves as the national library and thus the care of Finnish cultural heritage. Worth mentioning is the Slavic collection (about 450,000 volumes), which was created when the UB Helsinki received the right to receive a deposit copy of every book published in the Russian Tsarist Empire during the time of the Grand Duchy of Finland.
