Climbing over the Rauhen Kamm is exhausting and not advisable in damp weather, some places are very slippery. If it is very warm, please take enough to drink, there are no water points on the way. The Großer Ötscher is one of the most dominant mountain formations of the eastern Austrian Alpine foothills and therefore a popular touring destination. The summit can be reached either in a simple ascent from the west or via a challenging eastward approach via the Rauhen Kamm.
