The lake is fed by water from the Demer. The Mangelbeek, the Zwarte Beek, the Herk, the Gete, the Velpe and the Begijnenbeek also flow in the same valley. The lake covers 90 hectares, surrounded by the inner dike, which expands to 150 hectares, surrounded by an outer dike, during large water inflows, on the territory of Linkhout and Schulen. The lake is 2.8 km long, about 180 m wide and 7 to 8 m deep. This makes the Schulensmeer the largest inland water in Flanders when it fills up to the outer dikes.

Beautiful piece of nature and ideal as a stopover at the tavern. It has a large terrace with a view over the lake. Recommended!
