The centre of Marienplatz, where the dilapidated former market church stood until 1784, is now the Marian column from 1861, designed by the artist Kaspar von Zumbusch. On top of it is a statue of the praying Mother of God. In the niches you can see the figures of Saint Liborius, Saint Meinolfus, Charlemagne and Henry II. Below you can see four water-spouting heads on two levels.
