The two-part moated castle located on the Erft was first mentioned at the beginning of the 14th century. Various noble families owned and lived in the castle. In 1828 the property passed into civil hands. It has been privately owned since 1884.
Even today you can still see the basic features of the original two-part moated castle, although the dividing moat between the manor house and the outer bailey was filled in in the 19th century. You enter the castle through a gatehouse from 1562, which bears the von Binsfeld family coat of arms. The original manor house appears today as a two-wing building with a round corner tower. Today the castle looks like a romantic country house, but the old foundations for another residential wing and other towers are still preserved.
