In 1928 Joseph Homburg, who also had a house built in Raeren by the architect Mies van der Rohe, bought the Raeren marble works. Raeren is not only known as a former pottery village, but in the area "bluestone" is mined and processed. Even today there are stonemasons who work the bluestone.
