Hiking group "Hiking in the Euregio"
Today we made another nice group walk through the Öcher Bösch. Due to the latest Corona measures, we did not visit any restaurants this time, but made a few short stops on the way to eat or drink something.
When I got to the Waldschenke this morning, a robin was waiting for me. A good omen for a nice day of hiking! We were 10 people with as many men as women. This is extraordinary, usually the women in our hiking groups have the upper hand.
The day started out dark and cloudy, and there was a quick, very light shower along the way, but the sun soon came out. It was excellent hiking weather, cold, with a fair amount of wind. But that didn't stop us in the forest.
We walked from the Waldschenke to the Kronprinzenrast (radio tower and monument), then along the Friedrichwald with a panoramic view of Aachen to the gnarled trees of the Hasselholz inner ditch. They're always good for some nice photos.
Then over the Geusenweg and along the Melatenwiese into the Preusswald. Via the Mulleklenkes radio tower to the Entenpfuhl and with a loop over the Klausberg and past the remains of the Pelzerturm to Siebenwege. In the last part we adjusted the route slightly because of a MTB route. And back to the parking lot at the Waldschenke.
It was a beautiful, hilly, and enjoyable walk, the group made a good fit and had fun along the way.
Many thanks to all participants for the good atmosphere and see you next time! 👏🚶♂️🚶♀️🤗🙋♂️

Contrary to the route of the tour on the map, the start and finish were in Forst.
In beautiful autumn weather, the group of cyclists drove through the Öcher Bösch (Aachen Forest 😉). The highlight of the tour was an art project by students from the FOS Gestaltung in the vocational college and the artist Senor Schnu at the "dragon teeth" (Westwall), which were covered with brightly painted boxes. This in memory of the liberation from Nazi rule 75 years ago. drachenzaehne-in-farben.de
Afterwards we stopped for a coffee in the restaurant "Haus am See" and ended the autumn tour in Forst.

Today the Rurufer tour continued from Jülich to Roermond. A very worthwhile and beautiful route through the Rurauen with a stop to refresh yourself in the "Beach Club" at the Effelder Waldsee. The paths are easy to drive. And Roermond is worth seeing.
The stages of the Rurufer cycle path are highly recommended.

From Aachen by train to Düren and change to the Rurtalbahn to Heimbach.
The tour goes mostly along the Rur on paved roads or dirt roads. Always nice views of the Rur. At Kreuzau we made the acquaintance of the "famous" donkey named Verona and her owner Dieter Meyer. augenweide-galerien.de/Eselsbrücke.html
In two places we were unfortunately diverted to main roads due to construction work on the route. I can only hope that the work will be finished quickly and that the Rurufer cycle path can be used again at these points. Overall it was a nice tour.

A nice walk through the Gulp valley and the woods on the slope. Ronnie got his paws wet, sheep had been scattered with a generous hand, and you took great photos. I hope it wasn't too hot, it was very stuffy here today.
I wish you a very nice evening / weekend! 📷😊🙋♂️

Today on the road with the bike group. No time for photos. I will cycle the tour alone again. Then there are the photos. 😉
The tour started in Breinig via Kornelimünster to Forst. Here it went via Eilendorfer fields to Brand, Krauthausen, Breinig to Venwegen to the "Birkenhof".
