Horstmarer See Beach, Seepark Lünen

The Seepark is located on the site of the Lünen State Horticultural Show (“LaGaLü”), which took place here in 1996. It is about 60 hectares in size and partly covers mining areas of the former Prussia colliery and agricultural areas. The core of the park is the nine-hectare Horstmarer See artificially created for the garden show with its bathing beach to the north and east and a quiet and nature reserve to the west and south. In addition, there are wide meadows with perennial gardens as individual islands. The Preußenhalde rises to the south of the site. Together with the Horstmarer Loch, a deep sinkhole that is used for disc golf, it is practically the only relic that points to the original use of the area.
