The Cappenberger See is a popular destination for hikers 🚸 and cyclists 🚴. In winter, when it is frozen, you can also skate there.

A really nice park

You can park for free at Lake Cappenberger See and walk around it. Enough benches on all sides invite you to linger with beautiful views.
The Cappenberger See, which was created in 1919 as a result of excavation work for the railway embankment on the Lünen - Münster railway line, became an increasingly popular destination around 1930 due to the establishment of a private bathing facility.
In 1953 the lake and its surroundings were bought by the municipality of Altlünen. In the period from 1955 to 1957, a new leisure and bathing facility was built on the lake. Additional games and sports facilities attracted more visitors.
