Henriettenkapelle Hirschwang an der Rax

The Henrietta Chapel in Hirschwang an der Rax was built at the end of the 19th century and is dedicated to Duchess Henriette of Nassau-Weilburg. This small church is picturesquely situated on the edge of the forest and is a quiet place of contemplation. A lovely destination for a short detour, it combines history and nature in an atmospheric way.

Beautiful chapel in Hirschwang with an ornate, Gothic turret on the main façade. It was built in 1902 and takes its name from the mother-in-law of the then owner of the Hirschwang wood grinding mill.

The Evangelical Henriettenkapelle in Hirschwang an der Rax

The chapel was built in a neo-Gothic style in 1902 according to plans by the well-known architect Franz von Neumann. It is dedicated to the memory of Henriette Siedenburg, the mother-in-law of the then owner of the Hirschwanger wood grinder and wood pulp factory Richard von Schoeller.

The Henriettenkapelle was founded in 1983 by the Evangelical Parish A.B. Naßwald, to whose municipality Hirschwang belongs, transferred.

Until the beginning of 1960, the chapel was also used regularly by the Roman Catholic parish to celebrate Holy Mass.

In 2014 the Henriettenkapelle got a new roof because the old one was very damaged and the building was endangered.

The interior of the chapel has been renovated several times and is in good condition. The outer facade has been left in its original state with the historical plaster (which can hardly be produced today).
