This is one of over 300 knight's stones of the Palatinate Forest Association. He points out the following:

“From 1859 to 1865, the then district forester Hahnus von Iggelbach ran a shooting range for fun at this Ritterstein location. Greencoats and the then Chief Forest Officer K. A. von Ritter [= the spiritual father of the Rittersteine] are said to have often met here for target practice. This place was popularly called Treffnix.”

Treffnix-Platz (375 m high) is a forest square at a large crossroads. In the middle there is a large green island with a knight's stone. Since 2010, there has been a wooden cross behind the Ritterstein, which was erected by Elmstein taxidermists with the support of the forest. Source: pwv-elmstein.de.tl/Treffnix.htm

There are several seating groups and individual benches at the edges of Treffnix Square.

The PWV Ritterstein No. 104, Treffnix, says that this used to be a shooting range. The then father of the knights, Oberforstrat Ritter, was also involved in shooting practice. In the vernacular, this place was called spottime as Treffnix.
