Maximilianstrasse is the wide boulevard of the wealthy upper town, which is still lined with patrician and bourgeois palaces today. The street begins to the north at the town hall square and ends to the south in front of the two Ulrich churches.

In Maximilianstrasse, one of the most beautiful streets in southern Germany, there are two of Augsburg's three monumental fountains, the Mercury Fountain and the Hercules Fountain: They are sculptures of European importance and have been objects of the UNESCO World Heritage Augsburg Water Management System since 2019 ⛲️
