* The Abbey of Affligem is considered the most impressive abbey foundation of the Benedictines in the Low Countries.
* The abbey was probably founded in 1062 by six knights.
* Monks have lived here according to the rules of Saint Benedict for almost 1,000 years.
* In addition to the abbey buildings, you will find a large garden, the archaeological museum, the religious center and the cultural center.
* In the Asse-Aalst region, the monks of Affligem Abbey introduced hop culture in the 12th century.
