Best Hikes to Hohe Asch Observation Tower

Tips

  • Beautiful all-round view in the north of the Wiehen and Eggegebirge, over the entire Lippischer Bergland and in the south to the Winterberg, Schwalenberg, Köterberg. There is a nice resting place on the premises of the Heimatverein Bösingfeld-Extertal next door with a hut - but without management. Bus connection with line 800 in Hummerbruch every hour via Barntrup (Bus 700) and Pyrmont (DB) back to Hameln.
This is also where the "Path of Views" runs around the Extertal in the Lippe Mountains, as well as the European long-distance hiking trail E 1 and the Hansaweg X9.

  • About 100 m west-southwest of the summit of the High Asch stands since 1980 a 15 m high observation tower made of reinforced concrete, from which one can not only overlook some districts of Extertal, because next to the Weserbergland (from south to east to northwest) with the northwest on the Porta Westfalica standing Kaiser Wilhelm monument are among others with the Köterberg (495.8 m) in the south-southeast of the highest mountain in the Lipper Berglands, in the south-southwest the Eggegebirge and southwest to west of the Teutoburg Forest with the Hermann Monument (a Detmolder landmark) see. In good visibility, the Brocken (1,141.1 m) can be seen in the Harz Mountains.
