what are counterweights?
A small accumulation is referred to as counterweights in the Harz or in the area of the Upper Harz water shelf. These basins are mostly blocked by a wooden weir structure, a so-called failure. Counters are part of a complex system of artificially created waterways, mostly for the supply at that time, including energy supply for mining in the Harz Mountains.
