Keep of Altweilnau Castle

The castle ruins and keep are accessible. However, the tower is not accessible from October to April. Panoramic view of this section of the Weil valley, where several paths met in the Middle Ages and could be controlled from the castle. The castle can be reached via a small staircase at the upper end of the castle path, directly in front of a private property. The castle path begins directly at the city gate. Opposite Altweilnau you can see Neuweilnau and its castle. Addendum August 2023: The castle is only accessible from April 1st to October 31st. There are also new opening times, now only from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. By the way, the original section of the stairs in the tower is very, very narrow. And I don't mean the two steel spiral staircases.

Nice view over the place. The tower is currently closed due to Corna. Nevertheless, the ascent to the site is worthwhile.
