Tips

Definitely stop by in the village of Rhöndorf, quaint there!
If you don't want to hike, you can also take the cogwheel train up to the Drachenfels from Königswinter.

This is where you have to stand if you visit the Drachenfels!
View down the Rhine to the south. Few tourists.
Bench set back also good for a picnic.

Actually an even better view than from the Drachenfels. Here you have no trees that disturb the view.

the island is opposite the island of Nonnenwerth in the Honnef valley widening of the Middle Rhine. It is used, among other things, for events. There is also a nice beer garden and a path to wander around!

Worth a visit in any weather.
In good weather a view of the Eifel, but then be very early.

Those who walk from the Ulanendenkmal to the Drachenfels are automatically on the Rheinsteig, the second stage from Königswinter to Bad Honnef ...
Some great views of the Rhine valley and Rhöndorf are guaranteed! 😎 📷

From this striking elevation directly on the banks of the Rhine you can enjoy a spectacular view of the river, the many ships on it and the surrounding villages! Provided the weather cooperates, because in November / December a thick fog can come up here! Then you can't even see the mountain top from the valley.

Excerpt from the topography of Grafenwerth Island:
"... Two bridges, the Grafenwerther Bridge (1912) in the north and the Berck-Sur-Mer-Bridge (1977) in the south as well as two separating dams or groynes in the center of the island and at its southern end, lead across the island from the mainland The southern dam extends as far as the Lohfelder ferry. Above a certain water level, the dams are flooded. In the north-west of the island, several jetties are anchored, and there is also a restaurant from 1950 with a beer garden a good view of the Siebengebirge and especially the Drachenfels.
In front of the Grafenwerther Bridge in the north, next to a marina on the Honnef bank in the middle of the oxbow lake, the "Aalschokker Aranka", built in 1917 and one of the last Aalschokker on the Rhine, is anchored. It was in use until 1990 and is a listed building. In 1989 the ship was bought and restored by the North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation. The Aalschokker, with the yacht harbor to the east and the Drachenfels in the background, is a popular photo motif and a landmark of Bad Honnef. ... "
