The figure of the town servant with gargoyles and Saxony coat of arms is from around 1590. After the fountain has been moved, he is back on the Obermarkt today with a replica of the figure. The original is at the passage of the museum in Neißestrasse.

The Georgsbrunnen, which dates back to 1590, was placed in front of the Golden Eagle until 1856, after which it was moved in front of the candle arch.
George's shield with the Electoral Saxon coat of arms probably previously bore the Bohemian coat of arms.
There is only a copy here.
The original is in the Cultural History Museum, Neißstraße 30.
It is not certain whether the fountain figure represents Saint George or a Görlitz town servant.

A beautiful eastern end of the Obermarkt. Depending on the position of the sun, it is hit by the shadow of the tower of the Trinity Church.
