There is a saga about today's Harras rock, formerly called Haustein, about a bold leap with a horse that is said to have happened in 1449.
Knight Diedrich von Harras, who lived at Lichtenwalde Castle, was in love with Luitgard von der Schellenburg, which was later replaced by the Augustusburg hunting lodge.
Unfortunately, there was a dispute between the two families, which turned out to be such that Diedrich was persecuted and killed by the Schellenbergers. On the run he jumped with his horse from the Harras rock into the Zschopau. He survived, the horse didn't, but he was saved.
Luitgard was even able to reach an agreement and the two are said to have lived happily together.

The Körnerkreuz was erected in 1864 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of the poet and dramatist Theodor Körner (born 1791 Dresden - died in 1813 in the Rosenow forest near Lützow).
In his ballad "Harras the Bold Knight", Körner had paid homage to the legend of Harras rock.
The house tunnel under the Harras rock was built in 1868 for the Chemnitz-Hainichen railway line.

50 fathoms over the Zschopau, so deep he should have jumped!
