In the Aurach Valley between Walsdorf and Lisberg, new paths in landscape maintenance have been treaded for several years. In 2006, a grazing project “Aurachochse” with eight rear cattle was started between Walsdorf and Zettelsdorf, a breeding of the Aurochs. In the meantime the herd has grown to an impressive number. In 2011, water buffalo and Koniks were added in the valley between Kolmsdorf and Feigendorf. The robust herbivores are kept outside all year round and only need to be fed in real emergencies such as long-lasting snow or flooding. A prerequisite for year-round grazing is sufficiently large pastureland, low animal density and close interlocking between open land, bushes and groups of trees as
