Memorial stone of the beech of Todtshorn
The Book of Todt Horn is also known as Tilly Beech or Napoleon Beech. The vernacular tells that stood at this point a stately beech, which should have had an impressive size at the time of the Thirty Years' War. In the poem The Book of Death Horn describes Friedrich Freudenthal around 1900: She defied both Napoleon and Tilly, the Swedish hordes and the Cossacks. From the top of the 100m distant, 79m high Todtshorner mountain you have a strategically good view into the surrounding countryside. In 1972, the beech was part of the coat of arms of the municipality Otter.
