The Hellkopfsee (also known as a canyon by locals) is a former opencast mining lake. A wonderful, natural piece of nature.

The Hellkopfsee is approx. 102 hectares and has a depth of approx. 20 meters. The lake is near Retterode. In Hellkopfsee there are pike, carp, roach and pikeperch.
