Theodor Fontane reported on his stay at the inn in Teupitz:
“I left here on Friday evening at eight and was in Teupitz at four in the morning, slept for three hours in a bed where at least someone had already slept, then drove across the beautiful lake, visited the castle and church, and finally a mountain from which you can see the entire Teupitz estate with its mountains and lakes, left at two and a half and was back in Berlin at nine and a half." - Fontane, letter to his wife Emilie on June 23, 1862
