The manor house was built in the 18th century in baroque style by order of Ernst von Blücher; In the years that followed, conversion work took place, including the addition of the octagonal side tower in 1899. After 1945, refugees first moved into the manor house. In 1974 the Elbewerft Boizenburg acquired the house and had it extensively reconstructed. It was then used as an educational center and holiday resort.

In 1992 the Genossenschaftsverband Norddeutschland acquired the mansion and used it as a seminar and training center until the end of 2005. The building then stood empty and was auctioned off to the Lüneburg entrepreneur Harald Meier in autumn 2006.

Today the house is run as a conference hotel.
