Due to the special scenic beauty, due to a variety of landscape elements such as rock groups, steep slopes and the valley of the Schwennecke, the Clusberg was placed under nature protection in 1994.

In the north there is an artificial pond, which is an extremely valuable habitat for dragonflies, amphibians and other organisms bound to water. In the southeastern part of the Clusberg, an old, ecologically valuable and therefore worth protecting hornbeam forest dominates with significant stocks of the stinking hellebore. Species-rich dry oak forests with strong sessile oaks stand on the south-west slope. Dead dead wood is used by numerous endangered insect species and cave-breeding birds, e.g. Stock dove and black woodpecker used as a habitat.

In the slope areas there are mountain meadows cultivated close to nature with a rich floristic equipment. The orchard meadow on the eastern edge of the nature reserve completes the picture of an ecologically extremely valuable, richly structured and highly protected natural area.

Great sight. A short photo stop is definitely worth it.
