The Filmmuseum Potsdam has resided since 1981 in the royal stables next to the rebuilt city palace, now the seat of the Brandenburg state parliament, in Potsdam's historic center. The building was built in 1685 as the Electoral Orangery. Since then, the building has undergone a varied history with different uses. The museum has been part of the Film University Babelsberg since 2011.
