A superlative bike pass that puts you right on the border of Italy and Switzerland. Coming from Livigno, a steep and demanding flow trail awaits you in the Val Chaschauna. If you climb up from Switzerland, you reach the pass via the same trail, which turns out to be a spectacular uphill flow trail.

To put it diplomatically: The Chaschauna pass at almost 2,700 meters is a lasting experience for many mountain bikers, whether they come from the Engadine or Livigno. At the Swiss National Park Bike Marathon, the climb from Livigno to the pass is the toughest test. For many Transalp bikers, the old route to the pass was a mental and physical challenge. At least the newly built path on the north side makes it much easier today.

The mountain road from Livigno is getting steeper and harder. Not exposed or particularly technically difficult, just steep... The new trail on the CH side is a nice flow trail for experienced people, but in snow it can be a bit difficult. Pay attention to the weather forecasts even in summer...
